February 14

Google kindly reminded me that today is George Ferris's birthday.  Without the ferris wheel, I wouldn't be able to say I've operated one and probably wouldn't have met the BF.  So thank you Mr. Ferris and happy birthday!

Anyway, it's also Valentine's Day.  If you're the type to celebrate, I hope you had a good one.  I don't particularly care for this holiday.  I personally think it's turned way commercial.  But I'm not knocking anyone else that partakes on this day.  In fact, V-day does give me an opportunity for themed deserts...which I indulged with Triple Decker Red Velvet Cupcakes.  Yes.

Bu anyway, yesterday, the BF did surprise me with some small things for the occasion, even though I kept telling him we're not doing anything for Valentine's.  He works late tonight and wanted to see my reaction, so he gave me my gifts early.

It was pure nerd joy.  I've had an obsession with owning my own Wookie.  And I finally got one!  Albeit, he is small, but I love him nonetheless.  I'm also a fan of Star Wars, so the rest of what I got was awesome too. The biggest surprise was a Nerf gun.  Heck yes.  We've been talking about owning a Nerf gun for years, but never buying one because they are kind of expensive considering it's essentially a piece of plastic.  So I was completely shocked to see one in my possession.  And I'm pretty sure he got it because he wanted one just as equally, but used Valentine's Day as an excuse.  We've already been target practicing with the dog's squeaky toys.  It's only taken me 27 years to get a Nerf gun...

For the cupcake:
-Use your favorite red velvet cake recipe.  Once baked and cooled, cut them into thirds (or halves and just use the bottoms from other cupcakes).
-Pipe your favorite frosting in between the layers and on top.  I used a mix of butter cream and marshmallow cream for my frosting.

6 Years of Awesomeness

Eight years ago, when we were both working summer jobs at Cedar Point,

It only took us two years (*sarcasm) to finally act on our mutual attraction.  We've been two peas in a pod fighting pretend zombies ever since.

We owe alot of credit to Cedar Point and our friends.  We had mutual friends that worked at The Giant Wheel and that's how we were able to meet.  That ferris wheel will always have a soft spot in our hearts.

It's been an amazing 6 years together.  Here's to many more years of adventure and fun with my other half, my sidekick, my love.

Besides, how can I resist this guy?

Old Man Feet...

These cartoons are a pretty accurate depiction of myself and the BF (with the first being pretty spot on).  I have feet like an old man, not in looks (hopefully) but because they get unusually cold for no reason.  Some may see it as a circulation problem, but I see it as opportunities to keep the BF on his toes (no pun intended!).  When I see an opening, I'll slide my frosty feet under his shirt as a kind reminder that I'm next to him.  I also think it's awesome the boy is blonde and the girl is brunette...and that there's a look of utter shock and pain on the guy, while the girl clearly has a look of amusement.  That's so totally us.  I don't see any sort of evil with this at all....

I am also apparently a bed hogger.  I'll start on my designated side and then throughout the night I end up with a glorious amount of space, the dog will have my original space, and he's left cradling the edge.  Oops.  I blame it on my old mattress with the dip in the middle.  That's my story and I'm sticking to it.  I'm convinced that when we finally do get a new (and bigger) mattress, there won't be a problem.  We'll see.

By the way, if anyone knows where these pictures are from, let me know so I can give them credit!

Stay classy my friends,
Heidi
